| How often should I receive massage
therapy? |
This depends on your needs/goals. If you are in severe
pain and want to recover quickly, your therapist may
suggest more frequent treatments. However, for the
average person trying to resolve a specific problem,
we suggest initial treatments be once per week. If
your appointments are too far apart, the progress
made in your previous treatment will be lost, as muscle
spasms can reoccur as long as the underlying problem
exists. When your appointments are closer together,
each treatment builds on the success of the previous
treatment. As you progress, and are pain free between
appointments, your treatment frequency is reduced.
|
| How long will I require massage
therapy? |
Generally, the longer you have had the problem, the
longer it will take to recover. Some people respond
very quickly to therapy, while others respond more
gradually. Your therapist will give you exercises
to help speed your progress and reduce the amount
of treatment you need.
Once the initial problem is resolved, many people
choose to continue with therapy as a form of maintenance
to prevent reoccurrence and/or future problems. Again,
the frequency of maintenance depends on the individual.
If you have chronic condition (arthritis, Parkinson’s,
etc) or a very demanding lifestyle/occupation your
treatments may need to be more frequent. However,
for the average person, maintenance is usually between
4 to 8 weeks.
Ultimately, it should be your goal to live a pain
free life. It is our goal to help you achieve that.
